Bring the taste of Italy to your table with our handmade orecchiette. This little pasta comes from the Puglia region of Italy, where it is not unusual to see them still being made by hand. In fact, handmade orecchiette are far superior to those that are mass produced and this is why The Pasta Maker insists that we continue the time-honored tradition of making them from scratch.
Our orecchiette are colored with flavors from the farm: steamed beets, tomato, organic spinach.
Orecchiette are named after the shape they resemble - 'small ears'. They're less than an inch across and slightly domed in the center, like a tiny dish. It takes quite a bit of practice and perseverance to master the art of the orecchiette but The Pasta Maker finally achieved it!
Orecchiette are often served in Puglia with little meatballs or Italian sausage and broccoli rabe and a simple tomato sauce.
